Twenty Years Ago, We Put Our Name on the Line.
I started in this industry in my early twenties, cutting stone, engraving it, setting it in cemeteries. You name it, I've done it. For the past twenty years I've been helping families in Portage, Stark, and Summit Counties create granite memorials built to last, so a loved one's memory stays where people can find it. We are proudly family owned and operated.
When we opened American Monument & Granite Co. in 2004, we made a simple promise to the people of Portage County: to deliver the highest-quality work and the kind of personal, unhurried service this moment deserves. Two decades later, that promise still has our family's name on it, and we've never stopped honoring it.
A monument is far more than a marker for a resting place. It's a symbol of devotion: a stone that speaks, and tells the story of a loved one for generations to come. That's why we never treat this work as a transaction. When you walk through our doors, you're not a number. You're a family entrusting us with a story that deserves to last forever.
We'll sit with you, learn who they were, and design a tribute that captures their life and love, then cut and hand-finish it with the precision this work demands. It's the same care we'd want for our own family, given to yours.
