The traditional memorial most families picture: a granite headstone that stands upright above the ground, large enough to carry a family name, a verse, and the details that tell a life's story.
An upright monument is the most enduring and visible way to mark a resting place. Set on a granite base, it rises above the lawn so a family name can be read from a distance and the lettering stays clear of snow and grass for generations.
Every upright we make is custom. You choose the granite color, the shape and size, the lettering, and any carving or etching, and we proof every detail with you before a single line is cut. If you are still turning over what to write on the stone, take that part slowly. Whether you need a single name or a companion stone for two, the design is built around your loved one.
We cut and finish every monument in our own shop in Ravenna, then set it wherever your family has chosen. That takes us across Portage, Summit, and Stark Counties, from Kent and Streetsboro west into Akron and south toward Canton, and we handle the cemetery permits and the foundation in each one. Those foundation schedules, and an Ohio winter, are most of what decides when a stone can actually be set; our guide to how long a headstone takes walks through the whole timeline.
A monument for one name, sized and shaped to suit the cemetery and your wishes. A timeless choice with room for a name, dates, and a few words that matter.
A wider monument made for two, often for spouses. We can engrave both names now, or leave one side open and add the second inscription later, matched to the first.
Hand-carved roses, religious symbols, and scenes, or laser-etched portraits and landscapes. We help you choose artwork that reflects who they were, then proof it with you.
From classic gray and black to rose, mahogany, and blue, in serp-top, oval, heart, and custom silhouettes. We match an existing family stone when you ask us to.
Tell us about your loved one, in our shop or by phone.
We design the memorial and proof every detail with you.
Your monument is cut and finished by hand, here in Ravenna.
We handle the foundation and set the stone at the cemetery.
Yes. We regularly match the granite color, shape, and lettering of a companion or family stone already in place. Bring us a photo and the cemetery details and we will make sure the new memorial belongs right alongside it.
From the day you order to the day we set the stone, most monuments take three to six months. A smaller, simpler design lands nearer three months, and a large or fully custom monument takes closer to six. The cemetery's schedule matters as much as ours: footers are generally poured from spring until just before winter across Portage, Summit, and Stark Counties, so we give you a realistic timeline for your cemetery at your consultation rather than a standard one.
Of course. Many companion monuments are engraved on one side first, with the second inscription added in place years later. We keep your design on file so the lettering matches exactly.
When you're ready, our family is here to help yours, with patience, care, and no obligation.
